Interview: Albert L. Waldo, MD, On a New Generation of Anticoagulants

Warfarin has long been the primary oral anticoagulant for reducing the risk of stroke and thromboembolisms. But there is a new generation of oral anticoagulants that are changing patient treatment. In this interview, Albert L. Waldo, MD, Walter H. Pritchard professor of cardiology and medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, discusses the promise of these new agents and whether warfarin will still play a role.
